Newspaper issues flawed "correction" of PRT story

April 15, 2004 (SoundPRT)— The Christian Science Monitor today printed a flawed correction to an April 1 story about Personal Rapid Transit.

from CSM print edition 4-15-2004 The Cincinnati "engineering study" mentioned by the Monitor (right) was authored in 2001 by the consultant Parsons/Parsons Brinckerhoff/PB Farradyne. Commuter rail and light rail are a large segment of Parsons's business. The alleged PRT system that Parsons analyzed and found expensive, complex and needing large supports was in reality a hypothetical PRT design concocted by Parsons itself, not the Taxi 2000 (Skyweb Express) system selected by the Cincinnati Skyloop Committee.

Sources told SoundPRT that the correction occurred in reponse to demands made by a Minneapolis-based cartoonist, who is waging a one-man disinformation campaign against PRT and some of its supporters.
